Urokodaki brings Tanjiro and Nezuko to his home on Mount Sagiri and agrees to train the boy as a demon slayer. Before the real lessons begin, he puts Tanjiro through a harsh test, forcing him to descend a trap-filled mountain in thin air before dawn. Along the way, Urokodaki explains that Nezuko heals through sleep instead of eating humans and fits her with a bamboo muzzle for safety. Thus begins Tanjiro’s grueling training in swordsmanship and breathing techniques.
